Caring for your VARYNOXA piece

Every VARYNOXA piece is finished by hand in 18k gold vermeil over recycled sterling silver. Gold vermeil is a substantial layer of solid gold — far thicker than standard plating — and with a little care it will keep its warmth for years.

Everyday care

  • Last on, first off. Put your jewelry on after perfume, lotion and hairspray, and take it off before you wash your hands or swim.
  • Avoid chemicals. Chlorine, bleach, household cleaners and hand sanitiser will dull the gold surface.
  • Keep it dry. Remove pieces before showering, exercising or sleeping.
  • Store separately. Use the soft pouch provided so pieces do not rub against each other.

Cleaning

Wipe gently with the supplied lint-free cloth after wearing. For a deeper clean, use lukewarm water with a single drop of mild soap, rinse quickly, and dry thoroughly with a soft cloth. Never use ultrasonic cleaners, silver dip or abrasive polishes on vermeil.

What is normal

Gold vermeil will soften slightly over time, particularly on rings and bracelets that meet surfaces daily. This is a natural patina rather than a fault, and it is part of how the piece records the time you have worn it.

Refresh service

When a piece has genuinely worn through, our workshop can re-plate it. See Repairs & Restoration, or write to service@varynoxa.com.
